Restorative Power in the Classroom

A talk by Esteban Benites-Moreno (He/El), Ocean Candler (She/Her/Hers), Amy Jordan (she/her) and ASL Mandaria Taylor (she/her)
Planned Parenthood & Planned Parenthood Association of Utah

Target Audience: Teachers and Educators Objectives: 1. What is power and how does it show up in the classroom? 2. How does identity influence power within yourself and your students? 3. How can you share power with your students? We hope to cover many topics including: identity mapping, the different types of power, intersectionality, decolonization, microaggressions and restorative justice. We want teachers to leave feeling empowered to acknowledge their own identities and the identities of their students in hopes of creating collaborative and shared power in their educational spaces.
