You Belong Here: Teachers and Students Co-Creating an Inclusive Learning Environment for LGBTQ+ Students

Objectives: Help audience understand how collaborative efforts between teachers and students can help co-create an LGBTQ+ inclusive learning environment. Audience: Anyone interested in LGBTQ+ inclusivity in education in general, and higher education in particular. Elisa will address barriers for LGBTQ+ students in higher education, co-creating an LGBTQ+ inclusive culture within a community college context, and activism both at SLCC and in the community. Thando will address LGBTQ+ inclusivity via SLCC's new Gender & Sexuality Student Resource Center as well as everyday activism at SLCC and beyond, including activism in Africa and specifically East Africa/Uganda.
